For more than five decades, North American powertrain strategy was shaped more by regulation than by the road. Compliance was king, setting the pace by driving investment cycles, product plans, and engineering priorities for the region.<\/p>\n

But this is changing. And driven by this change, we find ourselves coming back to the only question that ultimately matters: What does the customer actually want?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The market has spoken on propulsion diversity \u2013 ICE, BEV, HEV, and EREV all have a place, depending on use case, region, energy prices, and infrastructure. However, at the same time U.S. regulatory environment is opening up<\/strong> and putting energy diversity, domestic production, and consumer choice back at the center. This is a new opportunity to lead innovation.<\/p>\n

Additionally, AI is changing how fast we can respond<\/strong>. Adopting AI-assisted simulation, calibration, design, and validation workflows shorten development cycles and responses to shifting requirements \u2013 all without compromising rigor.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Software-Defined Vehicle is rewriting the powertrain future<\/strong>.
Electrification brings the need for close integration<\/strong> between powertrain<\/strong> and chassis systems<\/strong>. The engineering boundaries are dissolving. For powertrain and chassis engineers it\u2019s relevant to understand the system interdependencies, synergy potentials and prepare for next-gen E\/E architectures.<\/p>\n
